Question: My child is 15 months old and not walking. Should I be concerned?

Answer: Most children meet developmental milestones within a certain range rather than one particular age. Most babies begin walking between 12 and 18 months of age. Pre-walking skills include pulling up to stand, standing alone, and walking while holding onto furniture (“cruising”). If your 15 month old is demonstrating these activities, walking will likely follow. If your child reaches 18 months of age and is not yet walking, talk to your child’s physician about a referral to physical therapy. Please call STARS at 367-8282.
