National Athletic Training Month is held every March in order to spread awareness about the important work of athletic trainers.

Athletic trainers are equipped with skills to prevent injury, perform immediate and emergency care, perform clinical evaluation, treat and rehabilitate injuries, as well as organize wellness programs for the overall health of the work force. Unlike a personal trainer or fitness instructor, athletic trainers must have a bachelor or master’s degree in their field and pass a comprehensive accreditation exam in order to become a certified athletic trainer (ATC). An ATC must also participate in continuing education courses and adhere to national certifying standards and code of ethics.
