I always hear about core strength. How does having core strength help relieve or control back pain?

Answer: The core musculature includes pelvic floor, abdominal, back, thigh musculature (including gluteal, hip adductors, hip rotators, quadricep and hamstring). The purpose of strengthening these muscles is to recruit them to help support the trunk with all activities. Also, we need to recruit them with specific timing, which may be problematic if you have had a back injury. Therapy may be able to help you with this recruitment and strength.
