Question: I cut a tendon in my hand with a steak knife, my doctor fixed it and said I will need hand therapy. What will I be doing?

Answer: This depends on what part of the hand you cut and which kind of repair the doctor performed. But basically you can expect to wear a protective splint we fit to you for 5 or 6 weeks. Then begin protected/ limited passive exercises at first and then active movement after and for certain time frames. You will massage the scar tissue and eventually strengthen the hand when permitted according to a certain protocol your doctor and therapist determines to be best for your repair.
