Cold weather can make the opportunity to exercise difficult, if not impossible.  According to an article by In Motion, a publication of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, even just minimal exercise can make a big impact!

Exercise is perhaps the closest thing to a ‘Miracle Drug’ in existence.  The benefits of exercise are numerous and include easing depression, lessening heart disease and cancer risk, and even lowering risk of infection.  Especially important is the effect of exercise on weight loss and regulation of blood sugar.  Obesity and diabetes are perhaps the two leading health threats to Americans with prevalence rates of both conditions skyrocketing.  Thankfully, even small bouts of exercise can keep pounds off and greatly lessen the risk ofdiabetes.

You don’t know how or where to start?

You don’t need to have an injury or be in pain to see a Physical Therapist.  Physical Therapists are movement specialists and are trained in how to design specific exercise programs to best meet your individual needs. This can often be accomplished in just a few visits.  We can help instruct you in a walking program and get you set-up with some resistance strengthening or teach you how to use those intimidating exercise balls. Simply put, a Physical Therapist can help get you moving!
