Question: Should I worry if my kindergartener won’t focus?

Answer:  6-year-old’s attention span should be 10-15 minutes on something that interests them. Physical exercise helps develop the social, emotional and cognitive skills needed for a child to be successful in school. If you are concerned that your child needs help to focus, encourage your child to participate in structured physical activities. Research shows that structured physical activity such as kid’s Martial Arts can help develop concentration, coordination, strength and their ability to focus. If you have concerns, talk to your pediatrician about an occupational therapy evaluation.
