Question:For about two months my knee hurts when I run. I belong to a gym and have been performing weight training exercises to strengthen my legs and decrease my pain. However, this has not helped. Is there anything else I can do?
Answer: Yes. During your visit with a Physical Therapist they can assess the flexibility and strength of your legs, as well as your running
mechanics. Based on the results of the PT’s exam he/she can put
together a treatment plan that could include exercises you can perform independently at your gym. The PT can also perform manual treatments in the clinic to help you get back to pain free running. For additional information, call Jim at STARS (Downtown YMCA) at 424-8175.
