Question: I have “knock-knees”. What should I do about it?

Answer: The condition of “knock-knees” is called genu valgum in which the knees touch in standing and the ankles do not. This condition may be seen in one or both knees. An outward bow is normally seen in a child up to 18-19 months. Then the inward angle of genu valgum occurs in the child up to 3-4 years or age. By age 6, the knees are normally straight. Your knee alignment can be assessed by therapists at STARS clinics throughout the Treasure Valley. Please call Maril at STARS at 367-3315 for additional information.
