I am a runner and I am experiencing pain on the outside of my leg, can physical therapy help?

Answer: Iliotibial band (IT band) syndrome is a common and painful condition that affects many active individuals, especially distance runners. This condition is characterized by pain on the outside of the leg and into the lateral aspect of the knee. Running and activities requiring knee bending and/or squatting become increasingly difficult in IT band syndrome cases. However, an aggressive physical therapy regimen including hip strengthening and soft tissue mobilization can get you back to running pain-free soon! For additional information, call STARS 367-5400.
