Barbara Hofeldt, OT/L is an Occupational Therapist with a special interest in insomnia, pain and anxiety management with the emphasis on diminishing these often inter-related problems, through relaxation/meditation, self-trigger point release, manual therapy as well as mirror therapy.

Barbara received a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy with a minor in Psychology from San Jose State University in 1978.  During her career, Barbara primarily worked with people with neurological diagnoses related to traumatic brain injury, stroke and other brain disorders.  Barbara often incorporated deep relaxation and/or breathing techniques to aid people in accelerating the healing process through acquiring those skills of self quieting.

In 2009 Barbara was introduced to and then pursued training in iRest/Yoga Nidra to aid people who were suffering with PTSD, insomnia, anxiety and pain.  Over several years of utilizing this technique, Barbara was amazed by the significant reduction in those symptoms with the majority of her patients.  Barbara has attended countless meditation/relaxation workshops since then and incorporates other meditation approaches in addition to iRest to aid people in overcoming insomnia which can be caused by multiple problems.

Because of Barbara’s interest in alternative medicine’s role in enhancing more traditional approaches of Occupational Therapy, she has acquired certificates in iRest , Level 1 and 2 in 2009, and advanced certificate designated as iRest Teacher in 2012 has completed many workshops in a variety of mindfulness practices: focused, heart centered, guided imagery was certified as a Massage Therapist in 1984

What To Expect?

Our sleep therapy program uses one-on-one sessions. The first session is information gathering. We will provide information on regaining restorative sleep. Appointments are initially 1-2 times per week. Other sessions are once a week for a total of 6 to 8 treatments sessions. It is a commitment. A commitment to your health. Sleep impacts every aspect of our health.
