Question:
My fingers seem to lock up frequently,
especially when I’m gripping, making a fist or when it is cold outside. When this happens it is very painful. What could this be and what can I do about it?

Answer: You could possibly be experiencing what is called trigger finger. Therapy can help with this condition by using modalities and exercise to decrease the stiffness in finger joints, and manage pain. Custom made splints can aid in promoting healing, allowing tendons in fingers to rest at certain times during the day. A home exercise program will also help in prevention of further problems. Call Carolina at STARS at 367-3315 (Curtis Location) as well as 367-8593 (Meridian Location) for more information.
